NAVIGATION > EVENT BUILDER > REGISTRATION > REGISTRATION ITEMS
If you are offering say concurrent sessions and want to prevent registrants from double-booking themselves, you have two options 1) create a registration item group for each time slot and set the maximum to one and/or 2) use item exclude rules.
For example, you'd have something like this
GROUP: TIMESLOT MONDAY 1:00PM to 2:00PM
Item: Workshop A
Item: Workshop B
Item: Workshop C
To setup a group of items that will only only one item to be selected within the group:
- In the EVENT BUILDER, click on the REGISTRATION tab atop the screen
- Click the Registration Items tab on the menu on the left
- Click +NEW GROUP
- Give the group a name, set the maximum to 1 (if there is minimum requirement you can set that too) and close the group by clicking the X in the upper right
- Create your registration items and drag them into the group
Special Considerations
- If the registrant selects more than one from the group, they will receive a warning once they attempt to confirm their registration. The system will tell them what they need to do to adjust their selections
- If you have an event where you want to also allow registrants to ADD sessions from the AGENDA to their ITINERARY post registration, this method supports that provided the registration items don't have a cost and don't have any other special registration logic
You can also leverage item exclude rules:
- Click on the first item in your group and click the "Exclude Items" tab on the left
- Choose the other items you want to prevent the registrant from selecting when they select the item you are editing. If you choose "Check Group", the system will automatically exclude every item within the group
- Repeat for the other items
Special Considerations
- This will give the registrant real-time feedback; if they choose Workshop A, Workshop B & Workshop C will not be selectable.
- If you have an event where you want to also allow registrants to ADD sessions from the AGENDA to their ITINERARY post registration, the use of EXCLUDE rules will prevent registrants from being able to "add to their itinerary" from your published agenda outside of registration.
You can use both methods above together or individually.
